Meet Uncle Mo, the elder statesman

We are absolutely delighted to welcome Carlos Morgan to the principal role of Uncle Mo in the musical Who Is Esther! A multi-award-winning singer, songwriter, vocalist, and producer, Carlos brings a remarkable depth of talent and star power to a role that sits at the very moral heart of this production.

Uncle Mo is Esther’s uncle and mentor, the wise elder statesman who has spent years quietly waiting for the right moment to bring his niece into the company where he has earned real influence and standing. He is the conscience of the story, the steady presence who passes courage from one generation to the next. It is a role that demands gravitas, emotional depth, and a voice that can carry grief, resolve, and love all at once, and Carlos Morgan is precisely that performer.

A recording artist on his own Solroc Music label, Carlos burst onto the Canadian music scene with his debut album Feelin’ Alright, which soared to number three on the Records Independent Charts. His accomplishments since have been extraordinary: a Juno Award, two Canadian Urban Music Awards, a MuchMusic Video Award, a SOCAN Music Award, and induction into the Canadian Who’s Who. He also received the Power 96.5 Performance Award at the 2022 Black Music Conference Awards in Buffalo, New York, and was honored by the City of Toronto with the Myseum Music Award for his musical contributions.

His artistry spans R&B, Soul, Gospel, and Reggae; he’ll bring a richness and depth to Uncle Mo, and it will resonate long after the curtain falls.

Carlos holds a Master of Arts in Community Music from Wilfrid Laurier University.
