Who Is Esther has a fascinating – and inspiring – backstory. Randall Craig wrote it in the hospital while receiving treatment for leukemia and a subsequent bone marrow transplant. The development process was also interesting: a first-time playwright trying (unsuccessfully) to elbow in to the established theatre scene. And then there’s the production itself: from a script and score, the producers (Linda Craig and Randall Craig) mounting the show themselves within 5 months, to sold-out audiences, even though they hadn’t ever produced a thing.
Which brings us to TIFF, the Toronto International Film Festival. Yes, we’ve gone to various premieres over the years, and it’s been fun. But the real “business” of TIFF are the relationships that are built, the deals that are done, and the events that are designed for those who are actually in the business of producing film and TV.
We’re thrilled to announce that we will be there, pitching “BELIEVE: The Making of Who Is Esther”. There are firsts for everything, so let’s see where this takes us!
